Youth Ministry

Overview PDF Print E-mail

Youth Ministry seeks to provide vibrant and comprehensive programs, activities and ministries which engage the youth of the parish. Youth Ministry is a part of the Parish Life cluster.

Have you ever heard it said: “The youth are the future of the Church.”

Well that is true…but guess what???

You aren’t just the Church of the future
You are the young Church of TODAY.

So…we at St. Patrick are building programs to keep you connected, NOW.

I know you are busy. I hear about your practices for sports, and school plays, and of course studying. And on top of all of this, some of you have jobs! I remember those days of trying to fit everything in.

But, Youth Programs at St. Patrick are designed to allow you to come to what fits into your schedule. You decide. It is like going to the cafeteria and choosing what you like, or least what fits into your diet.

You might like 2nd Sunday Drop-In or being a Retreat Leader. Maybe you are interested in high school intramural sports, like basketball. Perhaps you want to go skiing, or helping with Service Projects.Come make some news friends, or reconnect with an old buddy. But rest assured, your FRIENDS are ALWAYS WELCOME.Be sure to download a permission slip for events that happen away from the parish. And don’t forget I need a health form filled out, but that is only once a year.

Come see what is growing at St. Patrick. As a matter of fact, come be part of YMAT and help with the planning.

What is Youth Ministry?

Reaching out to youth, guiding them, and providing opportunities for them at St. Patrick Parish helps them grow personally, emotionally, and spiritually.

One goal of Youth Ministry is to provide a variety of opportunities for youth in grades 7th-College that will connect them to the life of the parish, and hopefully, to their faith.

Youth choose what they like and what fits in to their hectic schedules.

In recent years, we sponsored a junior high Holiday World Trip, a high school Mission Trip to Nazareth Farm, a high school/adult Play Production, and participated in the CSAA High School basketball team with 36 young men participating.

Confirmation PDF Print E-mail

Confirmation is the Sacrament that completes initiation into the Catholic Faith.

During this sacrament, the Archbishop anoints the candidates with oil and confers on them the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Incoming 8th graders and older are eligible to begin the process. The preparation and conferral of the Sacrament will last approximately 10 months. High school students or young adults seeking confirmation may have class separately from the 8th graders.

Confirmation is for members of St. Patrick Parish, regardless of the school they attend.

Confirmation is administered as a part of the Youth Ministry Program, with Cindy Black, Youth Ministry Coordinator, and a volunteer team of adults. High school students help with the Days of Service and the Retreat.

Classes for those in St. Patrick School meet during their religion time at school. Those attending public schools will meet on Wednesday nights at PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) class.
